Countdown To Peak Bloom!

GOLDEN STATE APOTHECARY

Introducing…Lavender Candles!

Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm

Boy do we have a treat for you today! We at Santa Rita Hills Lavender we’re thinking, what can we add to our product line that might complement what we are already selling in the farmstand? So we went online and learned how to make candles! They smell amazing and are pretty easy to make, here’s how we did it!

First, we take the wicks and stick them to the bottom of the containers where we will be pouring our wax into.

Next we heat the wax in a double boiler, waiting until it reads at 160 degrees. Here you can see as the wax melts as it gets up to temperature.

Once the wax is fully melted, we then wait for it to cool down to 130 degrees so as not to burn off the essential oil before it mixes in the wax. Once it cools, slowly add in the lavender essential oil, mixing it as it is poured.

With the essential oil infused into the wax, now we take the liquid candle and pour it into the containers with the wicks.

Now we play the waiting game… In order to add the rhinestones onto the candle the wax needs to solidify, once it has gained some rigidity you can now add on your rhinestones for a splash of color.

And voila! Lavender candles ready to purchase! Don’t miss out on getting one for the holiday season, there either in the farmstand or in our online store, get your today!

Rain Day Means a Day Off!

Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm

This week at Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm off to a wet and cold start, it’s raining!?! What’s going on, it never rains in California!

With the rain comes a day off from working around the farmstand, so we decided to do some work indoors, starting with taking advantage of all the eggs we gathered this weekend by making some homemade eggnog, yum yum yum!

This batch we made was non alcoholic, but you can spice your eggnog up however you like. We love this recipe we found online, of course we used our farm fresh eggs, get them on the weekends from our farmstand!

Cheers to You!

Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm

As we get closer to the holidays, we at Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm would like to propose a toast to all those who have supported our farmstand this year, here’s what we’re drinking tonight, a Pomacello Martini , tons of flavor and tons of fun to make! The ingredients are pretty simple, just pomegranate juice, limoncello liqueur, vodka, and fresh lemon!

We try to do as much as we can with local ingredients, the pomegranates and the lemons were from our trees and the limoncello is from a local distilllery out of Buellton, DorWood. All you need to do make this drink is pour the pomegranate juice, limoncello, and the vodka into a cocktail shaker over ice, then shake vigorously. Then you strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a slice of lemon, so good, you should try it for yourself!

Always Looking To Improve!

Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm

This planting season, we here at Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm decided to try at a really innovative way to do your trellising for cut flowers, using bent cow panels as opposed to hoops with plastic.

We believe that this way looks way more appealing in the rows then hoops and plastic, and also seems way easier to put into the ground and to dig it out at the end of the season.

We also have been experimenting with different styles for our lavender wreaths, be sure to check them out at the farmstand, open during our off season every Saturday and Sunday from 11-4pm, or check out our selection of products for here.

Now Serving, Lavender Infused Honey!

Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm

Oh boy, do we at Santa Rita Hills Lavender Farm have a treat for you! Thanks to partnering with Bee Wild Collective, a Santa Barbara County bee company who helps find hives for displaced swarms, we now have access to tons of Chapperelle flower honey! They asked us to try infusing lavender into their honey by putting the dried buds into a bucket of honey, but we wondered, is their a better way?

That's when we went to the lab and after doing a little research and looking around at the tools we had we, discovered an amazing new technique to infuse your honey quickly and completely! What an amazing discovery!

This honey has an amazing color and the taste, to die for! Come by the farmstand and pick yourself up a little luxury in a bottle, or pick up the honey off our website. This honey you ain't gonna find anywhere else, so be sure to try it out!
